According to most schools of thought on meditation, nature contact is incredibly important and powerful. Mankind is not separate from the world but only a part of the complex spiritual machinery around us. From Eastern traditions such as qigong and yoga to Native American vision quests, spending time in nature in perceived as empowering. Meditating in nature allows us to reconnect with the natural world. This is so important to people today. We are obsessed with computers, cars and high definition televisions. We huddle in our constructed caves hiding from the wind and the rain and the sun. In desperation we turn to doctors and artificial medicines instead of returning to our source. Everyone can benefit from meditating on photos of nature. Better yet, everyone will benefit from meditation. Nature is our teacher and our source.
Surrounded by the sky above us and the earth below us, gentle winds caressing our cheeks as a mother would a child, we can gain so much more by meditating outside. Meditation in nature opens us up to the reconnection to our proper place in the universe. This process can be most effective when guided by experienced teachers. Respected soul coach Catriona MacGregor leads trips specifically for experiencing meditation in nature. She teaches participants how to open themselves to nature and discover our true purpose in life. Many of these outings are combined with important natural history and ecological lessons as well.
